About Me

I am Ms. Power Trip.  I hold certifications in health education, neuromuscular therapy, massage therapy, dance fitness, physical therapy and nutrition.  I am also a world traveler, a tour operator, an activist, a plant based cook, a Pan-Africanist, a story teller and a truth seeker.  The confidence I now possess to navigate all of my many passions had to be learned.  In my youth, the world often made me feel less powerful than others.  Whether because of my age, gender, race, or weight, I understood that I was at the bottom of the "food chain."  However, as I got older, I began to challenge what I had been taught, understand my innate power, and test it out.  Having always had an interest in different cultures and countries, I began traveling internationally.  Going against my initial doubts and fears, I even began doing so ALONE!  Taking solo trips, internationally, as a young, Black woman, definitely solidified me finding my power.  It also aided in the realization of my power in other arenas.  I began to see that just as I had control over when I packed my bags and flew to a new country, I also had control over what time I woke up in the morning to exercise.  I had control over eliminating dead and processed foods from my diet.  I had control over whether or not I buy from and support a company whose practices did not align with my moral compass.  I also had control over whether or not I give my attention and energy to anyone, or anything, that is not adding to my joy.

There are so many life lessons I've learned that I can link back to traveling.  I've learned the depth of my power and fierce resolve, but I've also learned my limitations and that it's okay to ask for help.  I've learned when to rely on my own intuition and discernment, and I've learned when to defer to my elders.  Now I'm determined to share my stories and all that I've learned, so that others realize just how powerful they are as well!  When I started my solo travels more than a decade ago, I never dreamed that I would grow so much in the process.  Which is why I always say... Finding your power can be a trip!
